What is Stopwatch?

Use this browser stopwatch to time a task and record elapsed lap points. Start or pause the counter, record a lap while it is running, and reset the session when finished. The display shows minutes, seconds, and hundredths of a second. Keep the tab active for reliable timing; this tool is not a code benchmark or a precision measurement instrument.

How to use Stopwatch

  1. 1Click the play button to start counting in minutes:seconds.hundredths
  2. 2Click Lap to record a split time without stopping the main timer
  3. 3Click the pause button to stop counting, then play to resume from the same time
  4. 4Click Reset to clear the counter and all recorded laps. This tool does not export lap times.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is a browser-based stopwatch?
This counter advances on a JavaScript interval. Busy or background tabs can delay those updates, so the displayed time can drift. Use it for casual timing, not precision measurements.
Will the stopwatch continue running if I switch browser tabs?
Browsers may throttle background tabs. This implementation counts interval updates, so it can undercount when the tab is inactive. Keep it visible and do not rely on it while the device sleeps.
Can I time multiple things simultaneously?
The stopwatch tracks one elapsed time with multiple lap points. For timing multiple independent things simultaneously, open the tool in multiple browser tabs — each tab runs its own independent timer.
