What is Device Information?

When debugging responsive design issues or cross-browser bugs, knowing the exact screen resolution, pixel ratio, browser version, and operating system is critical. DailyDevTools' Device Information tool displays your complete browser and device environment — screen size, viewport dimensions, device pixel ratio, color depth, user agent string, connection type, and more — with a single click.

How to use Device Information

  1. 1Open the tool — your device information is displayed automatically
  2. 2View screen resolution, viewport size, and device pixel ratio in the Screen section
  3. 3Copy your user agent string from the Browser section for bug reports
  4. 4Use the Network section to see your connection type (4G, WiFi, etc.) if supported by your browser

Frequently asked questions

What is the device pixel ratio?
Device pixel ratio (DPR) is the ratio of physical pixels to CSS pixels. A DPR of 2 (Retina displays) means 4 physical pixels for every 1 CSS pixel, resulting in sharper images on high-density screens.
What is the difference between screen resolution and viewport size?
Screen resolution is the total pixel count of your display (e.g., 2560×1440). Viewport size is the usable browser window area in CSS pixels, which changes when you resize the window or zoom in/out.
Why does my screen show different dimensions than expected?
High-DPI screens report a logical resolution divided by the device pixel ratio. A 2560×1440 Retina screen with DPR 2 reports a logical resolution of 1280×720 to CSS.
