What is List Sorter?

Sorting, deduplicating, shuffling, and transforming lists of text is a common task when cleaning data, preparing CSV imports, or managing configuration. DailyDevTools' List Sorter accepts any newline-separated list and can sort alphabetically (A–Z or Z–A), numerically, by length, or randomly — and remove duplicates, trim whitespace, filter empty lines, and reverse the order with one click.

How to use List Sorter

  1. 1Paste your list of items, one per line, into the input field
  2. 2Click Sort A–Z, Sort Z–A, Sort Numerically, or Shuffle to reorder the list
  3. 3Toggle Remove Duplicates to eliminate repeated entries
  4. 4Click Copy to copy the processed list to your clipboard

Frequently asked questions

Does the sorter handle case-insensitive sorting?
Yes. Toggle 'Case insensitive' to sort 'Apple', 'banana', 'Cherry' as if they were all the same case, producing a natural alphabetical sort regardless of capitalization.
Can I remove blank lines and trim whitespace?
Yes. Enable 'Remove empty lines' to delete blank entries and 'Trim whitespace' to remove leading and trailing spaces from each item — useful when cleaning pasted data from spreadsheets.
Can I sort a numbered list and keep the numbers?
The sorter can strip leading numbers before sorting and optionally renumber the items sequentially after sorting — useful for reordering prioritized lists without manually renumbering.
