What is URL Encoder?
URL encoding (percent-encoding) converts characters not allowed in URLs into a % followed by two hexadecimal digits — for example, a space becomes %20 and & becomes %26. This is essential when passing data in query parameters, as unencoded special characters break the URL structure. Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between encodeURI and encodeURIComponent?
encodeURI encodes a full URL and preserves characters that have meaning in URL structure (/, ?, &, =). encodeURIComponent encodes a single value. Use Component mode for query parameter values.
Why does a space sometimes become + and sometimes %20?
In form data (application/x-www-form-urlencoded), spaces are encoded as +. In URL paths they must be %20. Both are valid in their respective contexts.
Can I encode or decode multiple URLs at once?
Yes. Paste multiple URLs or values on separate lines. The encoder processes each line independently and preserves the line-by-line structure in the output.
