What is Pomodoro Timer?

The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method that breaks work into 25-minute focused sessions (called Pomodoros) separated by short 5-minute breaks, with a longer 15–30 minute break after every four sessions. DailyDevTools' Pomodoro Timer implements the full cycle with audio alerts, desktop notifications, and customizable durations — helping you maintain focus and prevent burnout.

How to use Pomodoro Timer

  1. 1Click Start to begin your 25-minute Pomodoro work session
  2. 2When the timer ends, a notification and sound alert you to take a 5-minute break
  3. 3After four Pomodoros, take a longer 15–30 minute break to recharge
  4. 4Customize work and break durations in Settings to match your focus rhythm

Frequently asked questions

What is the Pomodoro Technique?
Developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s, the Pomodoro Technique uses a kitchen timer (shaped like a tomato — pomodoro in Italian) to break work into intervals. Regular breaks improve mental agility and reduce mental fatigue.
Can I customize the session lengths?
Yes. While the classic technique uses 25/5/15 minute intervals, you can adjust work session length, short break length, and long break length in Settings to fit your personal focus pattern.
Will the timer work if I switch browser tabs?
Yes. The timer continues running in the background. Browser notifications will alert you when a session ends, even if the tab is not active. Make sure to allow notifications when prompted.
