What is Open Graph Generator?

Open Graph (OG) tags are HTML meta tags in the head section that control how URLs are displayed when shared on Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack, WhatsApp, and other platforms. Without proper OG tags, link previews show random content or no image at all. DailyDevTools' Open Graph Generator builds the complete og: meta tag set — og:title, og:description, og:image, og:type, og:url — with a live preview.

How to use Open Graph Generator

  1. 1Fill in your page title, description, image URL, and page type (website, article, product)
  2. 2Preview how the link will appear when shared on Facebook and LinkedIn
  3. 3Set og:image to a 1200×630px image for optimal display across all platforms
  4. 4Copy the generated meta tag block and paste it between your page's head tags

Frequently asked questions

What size should my Open Graph image be?
The recommended og:image size is 1200×630 pixels (1.91:1 aspect ratio). Images smaller than 600px wide may not display. Facebook requires images to be under 8MB. JPG and PNG are the safest formats for cross-platform support.
How quickly do social platforms update their cache after I change OG tags?
Facebook caches links and may show old previews for days. Force a refresh using Facebook's Sharing Debugger tool (developers.facebook.com/tools/debug). Twitter has its own Card Validator. LinkedIn refreshes within 7 days.
Do I need separate OG tags and Twitter Card tags?
Twitter Card tags (twitter:title, twitter:image) are separate from OG tags, but Twitter also reads OG tags as a fallback. Setting both gives maximum compatibility. Many sites set OG tags and omit Twitter-specific tags, relying on the fallback.
